Responsibilities
- Conduct and document confidential workplace investigations in response to complaints, conflicts, or policy violations.
- Advise supervisors and managers on performance management, disciplinary actions, and coaching strategies to ensure consistency and fairness.
- Review and recommend updates to policies and procedures to reflect best practices and current laws.
- Partner with leadership to proactively identify and address employee relations trends or concerns.
- Assist in mediation and conflict resolution efforts to promote a healthy and productive work environment.
- Manage the ER case tracker for completion and status updates; lead the weekly ER meetings.
- Collaborate with leadership on monthly employee engagement surveys, conduct stay interviews, and report trends as needed.
- Manage all leave cases including PFL, Administrative Leave, and Extended Leave processes.
- Collaborate with Risk/Safety on complex Workers Compensation cases and complete WC Form 22.
- Coordinate the accommodation process, consulting with leadership on potential accommodation requests and track cases for effective handling and consistency.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, etc.).
- Support internal audits, recordkeeping, and HR documentation retention per compliance standards.
- Maintain HR compliance checklists, risk assessments, and required postings.
- Manage the policy update process including system requests for new and annual policy reviews, obtaining approval, and updating the last policy review date.
- Participate in policy development, review, and dissemination of HR and organizational policies.
- Conduct training for managers and employees on guidance for policies, performance documentation, and workplace practices.
- Collaborate with the HR Training/Development Generalist to align ER and compliance content within leadership and onboarding programs.
- Maintain accurate ER case tracker and prepare summary reports and metrics on trends and outcomes.
- Recommend preventive strategies based on industry best standards.
- Actively participate with Agency committees, work teams, and work groups as needed, including improvement project lead or team member responsibilities.
- Complete additional job tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field and three (3) years of progressive HR experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Experience conducting workplace investigations and advising leaders on corrective actions.
