Position Summary Reporting to the Assistant Director of Human Resources, the HR Generalist provides administrative, project, and analytical support for HR processes and functions within the Arthur Ashe Student Health & Wellness Center, and Student Affairs as needed. The HR Generalist will perform a variety of HR functions, including but not limited to working with HR leads to process transactions, assist departments with recruitment efforts, onboard employees, develop and maintain job descriptions, provide general guidance on personnel policies and procedures, facilitate general benefits communication, offboard employees, maintain employment records and consult with Campus Human Resources (CHR) for exceptions, special approvals or as needed.The HR Generalist works effectively under pressure and with constantly changing deadlines and priorities to support all aspects of human resources in a unionized healthcare setting.The Arthur Ashe Center is comprised of employees represented by various unions (EX, NX, CX, HX, DX, TX, SV, RP, etc.) and policy-covered employees in various different employment classifications including: career, partial year career, contract, limited, per diem, casual-restricted, and contingent workers (i.e. interns and volunteers). Salary & Compensation UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications 1-3 Years years of previous HR Experience (Required) Working knowledge of human resources principles, employment practices, personnel policies, and collective bargaining agreements sufficient to support a complex, unionized workplace. (Required)Ability to produce accurate HR documents, correspondence, and memoranda and use Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, HR systems, and related business software. (Required)Demonstrated working knowledge of the UCPath system. (Preferred)Working knowledge of employee benefit and leave programs, including FMLA and University leave procedures, eligibility requirements, documentation, return-to-work coordination, and the interactive process. (Required)Ability to analyze information and data, identify issues, and make sound recommendations or resolve problems. (Required)Demonstrated mathematical skills to calculate salaries, leave accruals, payroll changes, and other personnel or financial transactions. (Required)Effective oral and written communication skills to convey information accurately, tactfully, and diplomatically to diverse audiences. (Required)Ability to understand, retain, explain, and accurately apply a variety of information and procedures. (Required)Political acumen, initiative, and sound judgment to handle highly confidential and sensitive matters with discretion. (Required)Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, management, Campus Human Resources, Payroll, and other partners while providing high-quality service. (Required)Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently and accurately amid a high-volume workload, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities. (Required)Working knowledge of University personnel and payroll policies and procedures, collective bargaining agreements, and HR compliance requirements in a University and/or healthcare setting.
