About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources to lead HR strategy, employee relations, compliance, and workforce initiatives across a multi-site organization. This role requires a hands-on HR leader who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, managing complex employee matters, and building scalable HR processes. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of California employment and wage-and-hour laws, experience supporting geographically dispersed locations, and the executive presence to partner effectively with employees and senior leadership.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction across core HR functions, including employee relations, compliance, performance management, and workforce support.
- Advise leadership on complex employee relations matters and workplace issues.
- Ensure compliance with California employment laws, wage-and-hour requirements, ERISA, Department of Labor regulations, and other employer obligations.
- Support employees and leaders across multiple locations and varying levels of the organization.
- Develop and improve HR policies, processes, infrastructure, and best practices.
- Respond to escalated employee matters and provide on-site support when necessary.
- Partner with operational leadership on organizational and workforce initiatives.
- Promote consistent HR practices while remaining flexible to the needs of individual locations.
Qualifications
- Significant HR leadership experience within a multi-site, service-oriented organization.
- Strong working knowledge of California employment law and wage-and-hour regulations.
- Knowledge of ERISA and Department of Labor requirements.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations matters.
- Strong communication, judgment, problem-solving, and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with employees ranging from entry-level staff through highly compensated professionals and executives.
- Experience building or strengthening HR infrastructure in a growing or evolving organization.
- Healthcare, clinical, or similar service-industry experience is preferred but not required.
