HR DIRECTOR
About the role
OUR NATIONAL CONVERSATION (ONC) is a 501c3, nonpartisan media outlet largely run by student interns (mostly college; some high school; some grad school). Our goal is to reduce toxic partisanship and get America talking again, with a focus on solutions, not finger-pointing. We seek to make ONC a household name—a trusted source of fair, accurate, and balanced information about politics and public policy.
As HR Director, you’ll manage recruitment, onboarding, paperwork, and provide "adult supervision" to keep operations running smoothly amid high student turnover. This role is critical, as every department relies on HR support. The position requires 4–8 hours per week, with potential for more.
Responsibilities
- Oversee recruitment and onboarding of student interns
- Manage HR paperwork and compliance
- Provide guidance and supervision to student HR team members
- Support all departments with HR needs
- Help build a stronger fundraising department to enable paid staff roles
Qualifications
Experience in HR management, recruitment, or operations. Ability to mentor and guide students while maintaining professional standards. Passion for ONC’s mission of reducing partisanship and developing future leaders.
