HR Data Analyst (Contract)

Airbus Commercial is seeking a HR Data Analyst (Contract) to join our team in Herndon, Virginia. In this role, you will collaborate with stakeholders, design methodologies to solve problems, and use advanced analytics and algorithms to address business needs. You will perform data extraction, exploratory data analytics, and present findings in dashboards and reports, focusing on developing hypotheses and employing rigorous analytical approaches.

Working Environment

The Washington, D.C. metro area hosts multiple Airbus offices, including the Airbus Experience Center in the nation’s capital and our regional corporate headquarters adjacent to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

Responsibilities

• Assist in collecting, cleaning, and transforming data from various sources.
• Perform large-scale data analysis using mathematical and statistical methods to extract business insights.
• Identify actionable insights, suggest recommendations, and influence business direction by communicating results to cross-functional groups.
• Suggest improvements in modeling techniques and advocate for new initiatives.
• Build data visualizations and dashboards to present insights and recommendations.
• Utilize data analytics tools (e.g., Python, Alteryx, Tableau, Skywise) for data manipulation, analysis, and reporting.
• Write and execute data queries using SQL, Python, or other programming languages.
• Document data processes, findings, and solutions.
• Communicate analysis results and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with other data analysts and team members on data projects.
• Learn and apply new data technologies and best practices.
• Work with semi-structured and unstructured data (e.g., XML, JSON).
• Assemble large, complex data sets that meet business requirements.
• Develop, test, and deploy machine learning models.
• Perform business data analysis, identifying key facts and recommendations in accordance with Airbus standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science/Analytics, Applied Sciences, Engineering, or other quant-focused field—or equivalent professional experience.
• 3 years of working experience, including 2+ years in SQL and Python.
• Practical experience applying analytical skills and tools (e.g., Tableau, SQL) to solve real-world business problems.
• Familiarity with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sets.
• Experience or coursework working with databases, data models, and data warehouse concepts.
• Attention to detail with strong communication, presentation, and time management skills.
• Experience applying basic machine learning or algorithms to conduct data experiments.
• Experience or coursework performing data analysis and applying statistics using tools such as Python, MATLAB, R, Tableau, Alteryx, Excel, or SAS.
• Certification in Data Engineering (e.g., Google Cloud Certified Professional Data Engineer) is a plus.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.

• Lifting: Ability to lift documents, tools, or equipment up to 30 lbs (14 kg) several times a month.
• Pushing/Pulling: Ability to push or pull small office furniture, equipment, or tools several times a month.
• Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods during meetings or computer work.
• Squatting/Kneeling: Ability to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items on low shelving.
• Standing: Ability to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
• Travel: Ability to travel independently and at short notice (10% domestic travel).
• Walking: Ability to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Steel-toed shoes required for shop floor visits; hearing and eye protection may also be required.

Pay

Salary range: $36.00 – $40.00/hour. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on geographic differential. Individual pay is determined by skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

Schedule

This is a temporary (contract) position with no specific time period but may be extended or shortened as needed. Contractors are employed by a third-party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America.
