The Opportunity

Flock Safety is seeking an HR Business Partner to support the growth and development of our Engineering organization. This role will serve as the primary HRBP for the Engineering team, providing guidance on talent decisions, performance management, and employee relations.

  • Partner with engineering leaders: Collaborate closely with engineering leaders to ensure that HR initiatives align with business objectives and foster a high-performing culture.
  • Manage complex employee relations: Handle performance management, employee relations, investigations, and terminations with fairness and objectivity.
  • Drive talent processes: Lead rigorous talent processes such as calibrations, promotions, and performance improvement, ensuring decisions are fair, consistent, and aligned with a high-performance bar.
  • Monitor organizational health: Analyze attrition trends, engagement data, and performance outcomes to provide actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Support cross-functional teams: Work closely with finance, recruiting, total rewards, and people operations to ensure seamless execution across hiring, leveling, compensation, and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Build relationships: Develop trusted relationships with both managers and engineers, serving as a steady, objective advisor who can navigate nuanced people challenges with urgency and professionalism.

The Skillset

  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive HRBP experience, preferably in a high-growth product or engineering-driven environment.
  • Technical understanding: Strong understanding of how product organizations scale and experience partnering with technical or engineering teams.
  • Complexity handling: Proven ability to manage complex employee relations matters, performance management, and high-stakes talent decisions with sound judgment and objectivity.
  • Data analysis: Comfortable using data (attrition, engagement, performance trends) to inform recommendations and drive clear action.
  • Urgency: Ability to operate with urgency in fast-moving environments, cutting through ambiguity and making well-reasoned decisions quickly.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to deliver direct feedback and influence leaders at multiple levels.
