Summary
The Human Resources Business Partner at Westlake’s Windows, a division of Westlake Corporation, is responsible for coordinating and supporting human resources activities for the Houston, TX manufacturing facility. Key responsibilities include resolving employee issues, communicating policies and procedures, payroll administration, compensation management, recruiting, training, and supporting management through performance management processes.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Counsel managers, supervisors, and employees on various human resources activities, including policies and procedures, benefit plans, job-related concerns, and interpersonal relationships.
- Administer employment practices, including recruitment, screening, interviewing, and hiring.
- Advises managers and supervisors on employee relations issues, complaints, and terminations.
- Ensures fair and consistent administration of progressive discipline policies.
- Manages payroll, accurately records and enters employee information in HRIS (Workday).
- Establishes and conducts orientation and training programs for employees.
- Coordinates and supports employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and site events.
- Coordinates and participates in human resources training.
- Administers compensation, benefits, vacation, sick leave, and absence programs.
- Participates in compensation surveys, job evaluations, promotions, or adjustments in conjunction with Total Rewards.
- Performs administrative duties such as invoice coding and processing, bulletin board maintenance, file management, and event coordination.
- May perform additional duties as required.
Education, Experience And Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations, Labor Relations, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- SHRM or HRCI certified professional preferred.
- 5 years progressive HR experience, including 3+ years in a generalist/functional role with compensation, performance management, and training experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work at all organizational levels.
- Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work independently and coordinate with colleagues in multiple locations.
- Maintain confidentiality, high attention to detail, and adaptability to changing business requirements.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office products and Workday knowledge.
- Bi-Lingual (Spanish) required – must be able to speak, understand, read, and write in both English and Spanish.
Physical Demands
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, using hands to touch, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and hearing.
- Sometimes stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Works in a moderate noise environment, often in an office setting.
- May work in operating units requiring use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and hearing protection.
- May be exposed to outside elements and required to use stairs and elevators.
