About the role

As Daniels Health continues to scale its medical waste plants and field operations, we're seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to support our growth in Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina. You'll work closely with hourly field service and operations teams, providing guidance on employee relations and industrial relations, and fostering a positive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on Employee Relations and Industrial Relations, focusing on compliance with labor laws and wage and hour regulations.
• Support onboarding and exit processes, including new hire orientation and benefits communication tailored to a primarily hourly workforce.
• Mentor and coach department leaders and supervisors on employee engagement, retention strategies, and effective people management practices.
• Deliver training sessions to managers on labor law compliance and people processes, fostering proactive leadership and reducing turnover.
• Collaborate with the Director of People & Culture and stakeholders to implement workforce planning and organizational development initiatives.
• Assist in the administration of compensation programs and monitor performance appraisal processes to ensure fairness and consistency.
• Lead project management efforts to analyze turnover and attendance data, develop retention strategies, and improve recruitment practices.
• Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulatory standards governing employment practices.
• Occasionally support other functions, including team-building activities and cross-regional collaboration.

Requirements

• 6+ years’ experience as a proactive HR Business Partner or in a similar HR role, with a proven track record of resolving complex employee relations issues and supporting frontline and hourly employees.
• Strong knowledge of labor laws, wage and hour compliance, and employment regulations relevant to hourly and non-exempt employees.
• Preferred experience with Workday or similar HRIS systems; willingness to learn if not currently proficient.
• Experience partnering with operations and field service leadership to provide proactive HR guidance and workforce planning.
• Skilled in coaching managers on people processes, employee relations, and difficult situations to foster positive workplace culture and prevent unionization.
• Ability to analyze turnover and attendance data to develop and implement retention strategies.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across multiple levels of leadership.
• Well organized with the ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines.
• Self-confident, energetic, and a creative problem solver with a sense of humor.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• Strong customer service orientation and a collaborative team player.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, Law, Psychology, or Organizational Development.
• Proven ability to resolve complex employee relations issues and support frontline and hourly employees.
• Experience working in fast-paced, operational environments.
• Willingness to learn new systems and processes.
• Strong understanding of labor laws, wage and hour compliance, and employment regulations.
• Experience working with hourly and non-exempt employees.
• Effective communication and coaching skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
