Arbor Acres HR Department is a close-knit team focused on supporting growth, cross-training, and employee development. Our stable, growing non-profit organization has been in business since the 1980s and offers a collaborative environment with a strong emphasis on leadership training and employee growth through our PALETTE program.

About the Role

This position may evolve based on your experience and interests. Responsibilities could include:

  • Managing benefits programs, wellness initiatives, and open enrollment.
  • Overseeing ACA (Affordable Care Act) processes.
  • Administering the Workers’ Compensation program.
  • Serving on the employee events committee.
  • Providing onsite employee relations support.
  • Creating complex reports.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve employee issues with a focus on fairness and compassion, even during difficult transitions.
  • Maintain and improve HR processes requiring detail, follow-up, and ownership.
  • Support a high-volume HR environment (hundreds of hires and 60+ FMLA cases annually).
  • Uphold and represent the organization’s values, fostering a culture of warmth, caring, and community.

Requirements

  • 3–4+ years of HR experience, with a strong background in resolving employee issues.
  • Passion for diversity and a commitment to representing organizational values at all times.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including formulas and pivot tables, with a quick ability to learn new tools.
  • Experience in an organization with a high level of HR transactions.
  • Prior ownership of HR processes requiring detail and follow-up.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and HR programs.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and experience in key HR responsibility areas.
  • Ability to work independently, propose solutions, and collaborate effectively with others.

Education & Experience

  • Strong preference for a graduate of a four-year college or university.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification (Senior Professional or Professional) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years owning a piece of HR Operations and 3–4+ years of HR generalist experience (or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training).
