About the role

Northern Star (Pogo) LLC is seeking an experienced and motivated Human Resources Advisor – Employee Relations to join our high-performing Human Resources team at Pogo Mine.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity at our remote mining operation, located approximately three hours from Fairbanks via company-provided transportation. This position operates on a 15 days on / 13 days off roster, offering an excellent work-life balance while supporting one of Alaska's premier gold mining operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide HR Advisor support to site personnel, delivering timely guidance on employee relations, HR policies, and employment practices.
  • Conduct workplace investigations, prepare detailed reports, and partner with department managers on performance management, corrective actions, and appropriate outcomes.
  • Prepare and process employment documentation, maintain accurate personnel records, and perform HRIS and employee data entry with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret market compensation data to support compensation and benefits programs, salary reviews, and pay recommendations.
  • Career Development: Coordinate the full recruitment lifecycle, including workforce planning, recruitment, selection, onboarding, and new hire orientation in line with operational requirements and budget.
  • Research and interpret federal, state, and company employment laws, regulations, and policies, providing practical HR guidance and recommendations to management.
  • Analyze complex workplace issues, identify solutions, and implement innovative approaches to improve HR processes and employee outcomes.
  • Prepare professional reports, correspondence, and presentations while maintaining confidential employee files, records, and databases.
  • Effectively prioritize competing deadlines, work independently with minimal supervision, and adapt to changing business and operational priorities.
  • Collaborate with leaders and cross-functional teams to support a positive workplace culture and ensure compliance with company policies and employment legislation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a Human Resources Generalist or HR Advisor role with demonstrated expertise in employee relations, workplace investigations, recruitment, HR administration, and compliance.
  • Professional HR certification (PHR or SPHR) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of US and Alaska employment laws, including COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA, ADA, ACA, and FLSA.
  • Experience supporting recruitment and talent acquisition, compensation administration, payroll processes, performance management, and HR compliance.
  • Working knowledge of Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS); experience with ADP, Adobe Acrobat DC, and SharePoint is highly desirable.
  • Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and make sound recommendations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing reports, policies, and professional correspondence.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, site-based environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, build strong working relationships, and provide trusted HR support to employees and management.
  • Must successfully pass a post-offer physical, drug screening, and background check.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
