About the Role
The HR Advisor partners with regional People Leaders to drive business results through talent strategies and solutions. This role serves as the lead HR contact for our Central region (Texas and Denver) and is based full-time in our Austin or Houston office. You will provide tactical management of day-to-day talent focus areas, including recruitment, performance management, development, compensation, and succession planning, while contributing to company-wide HR frameworks with a regional perspective.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with and coach managers and team members on performance management and employee relations issues.
- Assist with performance reviews and other HR development processes.
- Travel regularly to local field sites to build effective working relationships and develop business acumen.
- Enable leaders to recruit, interview, and select top talent, executing full-cycle recruitment activities.
- Provide expertise on sourcing, interviewing, employment and background checks, testing, offers, and onboarding.
- Monitor the recruitment process to ensure optimal hiring decisions, including facilitating discussions with hiring teams.
- Support the annual compensation process, ensuring leaders apply the company’s total rewards framework.
- Ensure job profiles are accurately leveled for equitable and competitive market pay.
- Coach leaders on Brookfield Residential’s pay-for-performance philosophy.
- Enhance the team member experience by recognizing key moments of importance and managing workplace conflicts.
- Coordinate and deliver team member, leadership, or management development training programs.
- Assist in developing and implementing programs to drive employee satisfaction and commitment (e.g., Employee Recognition Program, Onboarding, New Team Member Orientation).
- Facilitate employee and leadership training in areas such as recruitment, performance management, and team building.
- Consult with payroll to ensure accurate and effective processes and systems.
- Ensure labor law compliance and maintain team member files.
- Collaborate with the HR team to optimize People operations procedures and processes.
- Update and maintain People information in the HRIS system and on the Brookfield Residential intranet.
- Create reporting as needed and participate in cross-functional or company-wide committees.
Requirements
- 3-5+ years of progressive HR/Business experience with knowledge of talent development, recruitment strategy, performance management, and compensation.
- Undergraduate degree in business or a related discipline.
- Solid working knowledge of employment regulations and legislation.
- Ability to influence without authority and maintain effective working relationships virtually and in-person.
- Strong business acumen and customer service orientation.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated project management, organizational, and time management skills.
- Proven leadership and teamwork abilities.
