The Employee Relations & Compliance Specialist supports the Human Resources department by assisting with employee relations matters for the Headquarters location, HR compliance initiatives, and administrative HR processes. This role helps ensure consistent application of company policies, maintains accurate employee documentation and records, supports investigations and corrective action processes, and assists with compliance-related audits, reporting, and training initiatives. This position serves as a key support partner to HR leadership and employees by promoting policy adherence, maintaining confidentiality, and helping ensure compliance with federal, state, and company requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support employee relations processes, including documentation, corrective actions, investigations, employee concerns, and policy interpretation under HR leadership guidance.
  • Monitor and track changes in federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including wage and hour requirements, workplace postings, leave laws, and compliance obligations.
  • Assist with communicating HR and compliance updates to management and employees, including policy updates, minimum wage changes, legal notifications, and required compliance communications.
  • Partner with HR leadership to support implementation of regulatory changes, ensuring HR processes, policies, forms, and practices remain compliant with applicable laws and company standards.
  • Maintain and audit employee records, HR documentation, and compliance files to ensure accuracy and adherence to company policies and legal requirements.
  • Assist with HR compliance initiatives, including tracking required training, policy acknowledgments, meal breaks, and employee incentive programs.
  • Partner with HR team members, managers, and employees to provide guidance on HR procedures, policies, and best practices while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Prepare reports, trackers, and audit materials related to employee relations trends, compliance metrics, and HR operational activities.
  • Coordinate and monitor HR workflows and administrative processes related to employee lifecycle activities, including offboarding, separations, and severance.
  • Support development and maintenance of HR standard operating procedures (SOPs), templates, and process documentation.
  • Assist with special projects, internal audits, and continuous improvement initiatives related to HR operations, compliance, and employee experience.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating employee engagement initiatives, including wellness programs and events designed to improve morale.
  • Create and distribute employee engagement surveys to collect feedback and improve employee satisfaction.
  • Assist with assigning training in the LMS system.
  • Traveling domestic and internationally up to 10%.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic Human Resources principles, employee relations practices, and employment law concepts.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment regulations, including wage and hour, leave of absence, harassment prevention, and workplace compliance requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills with the ability to audit records, identify discrepancies, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with employees, managers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, regulatory requirements, and business needs.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and customer service in employee-facing situations.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
  • HS Diploma/G.E.D. Required.
  • 1 - 2 years Human Resources; Employee Relations Required.

Compensation

$52,167 - $61,652 yearly salary range. (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)

Schedule & Location

This position is located in the Irvine, CA office.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit in front of a desk and/or in front of the computer for long periods.
  • Must operate desktop, computers, laptop, printer, scanners, shredders, etc.
  • Constant use of hand/grasping product, writing, and typing.
  • Sit for 5+ hours per day.
  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach over shoulder, kneel, push, pull 1-3 hours per day.
