Housing Specialist

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferred in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience supporting individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) for candidates with relevant experience and a degree outside of behavioral sciences will also be considered.
  • Experience working with the homeless population is required.
  • Valid driver’s license required; ability to travel throughout Beaver County to provide community-based support.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on medication prescriptions for substance abuse disorders.
  • Evaluate physical health.
  • Aid in decision-making processes regarding treatment plans.
  • Assist consumers with housing needs, including searches, budgeting, and applications.
  • Build relationships with housing vendors and facilitate referrals.
  • Support lease agreements, deposits, and budgeting with consumers and payers.
  • Act as a liaison between individuals and landlords to resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with the team on housing goals and participate in treatment meetings.
  • Complete assessments, provide cross-training, and fulfill on-call duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) model supports individuals with serious mental illnesses who may not have experienced success or haven't found effective support within traditional outpatient programs. We offer tailored services emphasizing relationship-building and active involvement in enhancing functioning and symptom management. Services involve weekly home visits, provided either in individuals' residences or within the community, utilizing personal vehicles for client transportation and community-based tasks.

Skills

Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with community-based service delivery systems are beneficial.
