Housing Policy Representative
About the role
The Housing and Community Development Representative II (HCDR II) position within the State of California's Housing and Community Development (HCD) department is responsible for analyzing and researching critical and sensitive housing issues. This includes implementing and enforcing state housing laws, particularly focusing on Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) laws, Housing Element Law, the Housing Accountability Act, Density Bonus Law, the Housing Crisis Act, Streamlined Ministerial Approval, and other relevant regulations.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and research housing issues impacting the implementation and enforcement of state housing laws.
- Implement and enforce state housing laws, specifically focusing on Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) laws, Housing Element Law, the Housing Accountability Act, Density Bonus Law, the Housing Crisis Act, Streamlined Ministerial Approval, and others.
- Work independently to perform more responsible, complex, and varied analytical assignments that impact housing.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of policies and programs aimed at providing stable, safe homes affordable to various demographics.
Requirements
This position requires a minimum of four days of weekly work at an HCD office. Telework may be considered on a temporary basis until appropriate office space becomes available. Confidentiality is a key requirement, and the position involves handling sensitive information related to housing laws and policies.
Qualifications

Pay
