About the role
We have an exciting vacancy within the Housing Options Team based in Sale. As a Housing Options Officer, you will contribute to the efficient and effective management of the Housing Options Service by promoting and maintaining excellent customer-service standards. You will handle enquiries that assist customers with individual queries, prevent homelessness, and make decisions related to homelessness.
Responsibilities
- Deliver homelessness prevention and housing-related support services.
- Apply up-to-date knowledge of the Homeless Reduction Act and associated legislation to address homelessness prevention and management.
- Work within a multi-functional team and collaborate with partners and key stakeholders.
- Meet individual performance targets in a high-pressure environment while maintaining high service standards.
- Conduct customer interviews (face-to-face or by telephone) to offer solutions in line with policy, best practice, and legislation.
- Work independently under pressure, plan and prioritize workloads to meet team deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
- Draft standard and non-standard documentation, reports, and spreadsheets using corporate templates with accuracy and minimal supervision.
- Respond independently to unexpected problems and situations.
Requirements
- 1–2 years’ experience in a similar role delivering homelessness prevention and housing-related support services.
- Proven experience working within a multi-functional team and with external partners and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in IT software packages, including databases and spreadsheets, with accurate data input and calculation skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build excellent working relationships at all levels.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, using initiative to solve problems.
- Knowledge of Trafford’s Allocations Policy and Choice Based Lettings systems is beneficial.
