Housing Navigator

About the role

Prairieland Service Coordination, Inc. (PSCI) is seeking a Housing Navigator to join our team in Maryville, IL. The position supports individuals with developmental disabilities by helping them secure and maintain safe, stable, and affordable community-based housing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate access to safe, affordable housing by identifying options, assisting with applications, and leasing processes
• Educate individuals with IDD and their families on supportive housing opportunities and how to navigate the process
• Collaborate with staff to assess housing needs and develop individualized housing and support plans
• Build and maintain relationships with landlords and educate them on working with individuals receiving services
• Aid clients with tenant readiness skills, including being a good neighbor and handling landlord-tenant concerns
• Complete required referrals, maintain accurate records, and track housing progress and outcomes
• Coordinate apartment outreach, showings, and support clients through the move-in process, including securing needed resources
• Communicate and coordinate regularly with internal teams, service providers, and community partners
• Maintain ongoing monitoring of housing stability and connect clients to additional or long-term supports as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a human services-related field
• One year of cumulative experience providing direct services to individuals with developmental disabilities

Qualifications

• Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills
• Knowledge of the developmental disabilities service system
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team
• Professional written and verbal communication skills
• Commitment to ethical standards and person-centered services
• Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours as needed
• Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and current auto insurance
