About the role

The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony (RSIC) is seeking a Full-Time Housing Director to join their team in Reno, NV. This role offers a competitive salary range of $101,732.80 - $125,122 annually, along with benefits such as Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Life Insurance, and Paid Time Off.

Responsibilities

  • Implement policies guiding all operational aspects of housing initiatives, including budget and finance, property procurement, and housing development.
  • Ensure community understanding of the Tribal Council's direction through effective communication.
  • Develop strategic responses to operational challenges and revise procedures as necessary.
  • Provide essential reports to the Council and manage housing development projects.
  • Coordinate applications for funding and execute contracts with agencies like HUD.
  • Ensure operations comply with established guidelines and address community needs effectively.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Finance, or relevant experience.
  • Experience in administering HUD-funded housing programs or similar initiatives.
  • Proven ability to communicate with various audiences on topics ranging from tenant agreements to complex housing development projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted governmental accounting principles, including financial statement preparation and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of procurement principles, financial auditing, and contract monitoring for compliance.
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise, and complete financial statements and reports, and maintain records in accordance with Tribal Records Management Procedures.
  • Proven experience in exercising sound independent judgment within general policy guidelines.
  • Ability to secure a bond, pass a security background check, and possess a valid Nevada driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates must be members of the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony or members of other federally recognized tribes.
  • Candidates must complete a pre-employment criminal background check, drug screen, and confirm professional references.

Skills

  • Strong educational background, preferably with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Finance, or relevant experience.
  • Experience in administering HUD-funded housing programs or similar initiatives.
  • Effective communication skills, covering a wide range of topics from tenant agreements to complex funding schemes and housing development projects.
