Housing Business Administration Director

About the role

Located at the Wake County Office Building (WCOB) in Raleigh, NC, lead the business strategy behind housing solutions that make an impact across Wake County. Provide executive-level leadership and oversight of business and administrative functions within the Housing Affordability and Community Revitalization (HACR) Department.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen the fiscal, administrative and operational infrastructure that supports affordable housing, homelessness services and community development initiatives.
• Oversee operating funds, capital projects, and federal grant funds for a complex and diversified annual budget exceeding $45 million, ensuring solid fiscal accountability and compliance.
• Provide strategic leadership for fiscal management, budget development, operational evaluation, business planning, RFP development and evaluation, contract management, position management and business process improvement across multiple high‑impact divisions.
• Integrate business process management and strategic operational planning to strengthen departmental performance, improve service delivery and support informed decision‑making.
• Provide high‑level leadership to a multidisciplinary team, directly supervising the Department Business Manager, Contracts and Inspections Manager and Housing Grants Administrator.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement while promoting consistent fiscal practices and effective business operations across the Department.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Six years of experience in public administration, business administration, accounting or budgeting including at least two years of supervisory experience
• Equivalent education and experience are accepted
• Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record upon hire
