The Event House person is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the hotel, including guest hallways, elevator landings, and linen closets. This role requires good communication skills and the ability to lift, pull, and push heavy amounts of weight consistently.
Responsibilities
- Setting up and taking down tables, chairs, linens, and other event equipment
- Setting up decorations and lighting for events
- Cleaning and organizing banquet rooms, hallways, storage, and service areas
- Inventorying and caring for banquet supplies and equipment
- Performing light-duty cleaning tasks such as sweeping, wiping, mopping, and vacuuming
- Performing removal duties as assigned
- Moving furniture upon request
- Completing guest requests with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment
- Refreshing meeting rooms while guests are on a break
- Cleaning meeting rooms as assigned
- Maintaining knowledge of banquet events, setups, and order requests
- Double-checking all event order requests are met
- All other duties as assigned by leadership
Requirements
- A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
- Physical stamina to lift, push, and pull heavy amounts of weight consistently
- Open availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Good communication skills
- Ability to stand for long periods and walk moderate distances
- Ability to bend, stoop, and climb
Skills
- Ability to perform all event house-related tasks and proficiently use job-related tools and equipment
- Ability to remain calm in various situations, use sound judgment, and effectively solve problems
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedural manuals
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow instructions, prioritize, and multi-task
Work Environment & Conditions
- Comfortable working in a shared space with constant noise and without a private office
- Able to cope with frequent changing priorities and deadlines with optimism, professionalism, and collaboration
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to:
- See, hear, reach, and use fingers to handle and feel
- Stand, stoop, bend, and crouch for up to 8 hours daily
- Push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs
