About the role
The Hilton Garden Inn Gallup is seeking a Houseperson to join their housekeeping team. This position provides essential support to the housekeeping team by ensuring public spaces are clean and supplies are stocked for room attendants.
Responsibilities
- Maintains the cleanliness of the public areas, including hallways, elevators, lobby, restrooms, and entrances.
- Responds promptly to requests for linen deliveries, guest room supplies, and to transport trash bags to the dumpster.
- Affords assistance to the Room Attendants when needed to remove trash, terry and linen from guest rooms.
- Delivers clean linens, towels, and amenities to guest floors and ensures room attendants' carts are stocked.
- Affords assistance with basic room setups for group stays, long-term guests, or special requests.
- Empty trash receptacles in public areas, back-of-house spaces, and laundry areas regularly.
- Ensures public restrooms are clean, stocked, and disinfected throughout the shift.
- Affords assistance with deep-cleaning tasks and periodic projects such as carpet shampooing, high dusting, or lobby polishing.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of housekeeping closets and storage areas.
- Handles guest requests for additional pillows, towels, rollaway beds, cribs, and other items.
- Supports laundry operations by loading, unloading, folding, or delivering items as needed.
- Makes sure to monitor for and report any maintenance or safety concerns immediately.
- Affords assistance with moving furniture, deliveries, or room setups for meeting spaces as assigned.
- Uses appropriate cleaning supplies and equipment safely and in accordance with hotel procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a housekeeping or janitorial role preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and a sense of urgency in completing tasks.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Friendly, team-oriented, and dependable with a strong work ethic.
- Must be able to communicate basic information in English; bilingual skills are a plus.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as needed.
