Houseperson
About the role
The Houseperson supports the housekeeping team by maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the hotel’s public and back of house areas. The candidate will assist room attendants with supplies and tasks that ensure a high standard of guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of public areas including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, elevators, and meeting spaces
- Aid room attendants with daily support as requested, such as restocking linens, preparations of carts, restocking of housekeeping closets/storage, removal of soiled linens and waste
- Deliver items to guest rooms such as extra towels, linens, or amenities upon request
- Remove trash, soiled linens, and debris from guest floors and service areas
- Aid housekeeping staff with room cleaning tasks as needed
- Report maintenance issues or safety concerns promptly
Requirements
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other departments
- The ability to communicate effectively in English with guests, managers, and colleagues
- Demonstrate a team-focused attitude and encourage collaboration
- Understand and use safe work practices for all safety precautions including Emergency Evacuation Procedures, Violence in the Workplace, Accident Reporting, OSHA Compliance, and Bloodborne Pathogen Procedures
- Comply with all policies as outlined in the Handbook, Property Supplement, or otherwise issued including time and attendance expectations, uniform and dress code standards, anti-harassment policy, and substances in the workplace
- Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions
Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain standing for up to 8 hours
- Walk the property and grounds frequently
- Move up and down stairs frequently
- Move quickly based on guest needs
- Regularly move and lift up to 50 lbs
- Use repetitive manual dexterity, such as squeezing, spraying, folding, polishing, scrubbing, dusting, etc)
- Bend, stretch, and reach frequently, including above head, and repetitively during a shift
- Bend and kneel frequently
- Visually survey property areas clearly and use an eye for detail to inspect guest rooms for cleanliness
- Communicate and exchange information effectively
- Read, write, speak, and understand basic English
- Perform assigned tasks, operate equipment, and complete job duties in a safe manner
- Work flexible hours based on business needs including midweek and weekend days
Qualifications
- Professional cleaning experience preferred, but not required
- Successful completion of background check
- Demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Expresses sincere enthusiasm for the role and cleanliness
- Must know how to prioritize, delegate, and respond in a timely fashion
- Able to work under pressure, multi-task, and stay focused while maintaining hospitality

Wage Rate: $27.80 per hour
