Housekeeping Supervisor

In conjunction with the Director of Environmental Services, the Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Environmental Services Department. The Housekeeping Supervisor is also responsible for training and supervising all housekeepers, ordering supplies, chemicals, and equipment, assisting with budget preparation, and operating within budgetary guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the performance of all housekeepers by conducting floor rounds every day and random room inspections once a week.
- Follow up on Resident concerns on the same day with a plan of resolution.
- Submit any required work orders to the Maintenance department using the online system.
- Conduct performance reviews on time for assigned Environmental Services employees.
- Under the guidance of the Environmental Services Director, conduct disciplinary actions when needed.
- Maintain required records, reports, and studies.
- Coordinate annual apartment cleanings with the Environmental Services Director.
- Conduct inventories of all housekeeping supplies and place monthly orders for all housekeeping supplies.
- Coordinate the daily and holiday schedules for all apartment cleaning and special cleaning projects.
- Perform the duties of a Housekeeper or Laundry Worker as necessary due to staffing shortages.
- Learn to operate the cleaning equipment and train new staff in their use as well as the usage and measurement of chemicals.
- Assist in the recruiting of staff.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of department events.
- Work with the Director to come up with new ways of incentivizing department staff to perform well and participate as team members.
- Participate in the research, preparation and writing of the department budget.
- Assist in operating the Department within budget guidelines.
- Implement and monitor departmental compliance with all infection control policies and procedures.
- Attend in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
- Perform specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Environmental Services.
Requirements
- High school education required.
- Special courses in housekeeping or institutional management are desirable.
- Basic understanding of English.
- Good oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Prior housekeeping supervisory experience in a retirement community, hotel or health care setting required.
- Knowledge of housekeeping and infection control procedures required.

Pay and Schedule
Full time, M-F 7:00am-4:30pm, $27-$33/hr
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
This position may be required to work evenings and weekends. Must be able to move throughout the building and grounds as needed throughout the day; must be able to lift to 30 lbs. Good visual and hearing acuity required; good verbal communication skills required. May be exposed to communicable diseases, and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV. May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and offensive odors. Must be able to see, hear and effectively communicate with residents and staff.
