Summary of Position: The Supervisor works closely with Room Attendants and Housepersons, supporting them in maintaining the cleanliness of the entire hotel. This position plays an integral role in the Housekeeping team. This role will contribute to the organization as an active business partner that is responsible for supporting the company’s goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Thoroughly inspect assigned areas to provide feedback to management and associates on cleanliness and maintenance against standards.
- Lead and motivate the housekeeping team, ensuring they perform duties to the highest standard.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to maintain a cohesive and efficient team.
- Perform guest room inspections and corrections, ensuring prompt return of clean rooms to reception for incoming guests.
- Communicate politely, professionally, and respectfully when coaching associates.
- Oversee cleaning and servicing of guest rooms, public areas, and back‑of‑house spaces, adhering to luxury brand standards.
- Ensure attendants and housepersons keep pantries tidy, correctly stacked according to shelf labels and closed when not in use.
- Ensure housepersons remove trash from work areas to the loading dock/dumpster and remove trash and linen from guestrooms, cleaning carts and housekeeping closets.
- Report any linen shortages or other discrepancies to the appropriate houseperson.
- Maintain each storage and distribution area clean and organized.
- Ensure houseperson distributes linen and supplies to designated areas in accordance with established par levels.
- Manage housekeeping supplies, linens, and amenities efficiently, ordering and replenishing items as needed.
- Ensure standards are met when delivering miscellaneous goods and supplies to guestrooms and delivering linen and supplies to guest floors.
- Maintain accurate records of room statuses, maintenance issues, and guest requests; provide regular reports to management regarding departmental performance.
- Ensure making up and delivering rollaway beds and cribs are done to standard.
- Maintain cleanliness of guest corridors: sweeping and washing floors, vacuuming carpet, washing walls, dusting furniture and fixtures, cleaning elevator tracks.
- Ensure houseperson cleans corridors by vacuuming, cleaning mirrors, credenzas, and elevators.
- Report defects in rooms; report maintenance issues into Knowcross for Engineering follow‑up.
- Carry out any other cleaning duties as specified by Housekeeping Managers.
- Report to Housekeeping Managers any suspicious persons or situations.
- Maintain corridors for which they are responsible each day to the highest possible standard of cleanliness and good order.
- Behave in a quiet and polite manner at all times; address concerns with colleagues directly or escalate to managers.
- Ensure doors to rooms are kept closed with proper “ATTENDANT IN ROOM” sign while working therein.
- Assist as necessary to ensure efficiency and smooth running of the Housekeeping Department.
- Report to superior prior to any overtime accrual.
- Address guest requests and concerns promptly and professionally, striving to exceed guest expectations.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of all guestrooms.
- Promote and implement sustainable practices, such as energy conservation and waste reduction, aligned with the hotel's environmental commitment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs.
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience in housekeeping within a luxury hotel or similar upscale hospitality setting.
- High School Diploma or equivalent vocational training.
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English.
- Knowledge of hotel housekeeping operations.
- Knowledge of housekeeping service techniques and cost controls such as labor, productivity and other expenses.
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Excellent communication and guest service skills.
