Responsibilities
- Maintains the grounds, building, and equipment, the laundry program, and housekeeping in an extended care facility.
- Directs the overall operation of environmental services.
- Develops and administers departmental policies, procedures, and budgets.
- Monitors inventory of chemicals, supplies and equipment needed for laundry and housekeeping tasks.
- Communicates chemical, supply and equipment needs to Executive Director.
- Maintains required records; notifies the Maintenance Director on observed maintenance issues and/or repairs needed.
- Implements cleaning schedules of Residents’ apartments, laundry, kitchen and common areas to assure completion of housekeeping tasks.
- Performs housekeeping tasks, as assigned.
- Provides laundry services as needed and/or directed.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control procedures.
- Observes problems, concerns and issues observed with Resident apartments, the Community and the grounds and communicates them appropriately.
- Trains Community Team Members on the systems, equipment use, housekeeping and cleaning standards to include chemical usage.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3-5 years of experience working in housekeeping, in senior housing preferred.
- 2-4 years of supervisory experience.
Skills/Knowledge Requirements
- Working knowledge of equipment, supplies and chemicals used for housekeeping and laundry tasks.
- Experience in working in a licensed care setting preferred.
- Ability to communicate and work with all levels of the Company’s management staff and Community Department Managers and Community Team Members effectively.
- Maintains acceptable attendance record/follows work schedule.
- Organizes and utilizes time appropriately toward accomplishing assigned tasks; requires minimal supervision.
- Displays cleanliness, good grooming, and personal appearance and follows dress requirements.
- Displays ability/willingness to learn new skills and to teach others.
