Position Summary
The Housekeeping Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Environmental Services (EVS) and Laundry departments, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, infection prevention, and resident satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the Housekeeping and Laundry departments.
- Lead, coach, train, and develop housekeeping and laundry staff.
- Schedule team members and coordinate staffing to ensure adequate coverage.
- Aid with housekeeping and laundry duties during staffing shortages or high-volume periods.
- Establish daily work assignments and inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and comfortable environment throughout the facility.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols and environmental cleaning standards.
- Collaborate with nursing, therapy, dietary, maintenance, and administration to promptly address environmental service requests.
- Perform routine facility inspections and daily rounds to identify housekeeping needs and ensure quality standards.
- Maintain department records, supply inventories, equipment maintenance records, and purchasing documentation.
- Absorb budgeting and cost control while maintaining excellent service.
- Develop and maintain housekeeping procedures, schedules, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Educate staff on cleaning techniques, safety procedures, infection control, chemical handling, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, CMS, state regulations, and facility policies.
- Participate in survey readiness and maintain department compliance at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous supervisory experience in housekeeping, environmental services, hospitality, healthcare, hotels, commercial cleaning, or laundry services is preferred.
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility, nursing home, rehabilitation center, hospital, or long-term care environment is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of housekeeping procedures, laundry operations, infection prevention, floor care, and environmental sanitation is necessary.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required.
- The ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced healthcare environment is important.
- Dependable with excellent attendance and a positive attitude are essential.
