Part-time position (20–34.5 hours per week).
About the role
Serves as a working leader at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and/or Navy Lodge property, responsible for leading and inspecting the work of team members in performing housekeeping duties to ensure program standards are met. Regularly performs the full range of housekeeping services the same as a Housekeeping Attendant, including cleaning guest rooms, public spaces, storage areas, laundry rooms, and exterior spaces.
Responsibilities
- Oversees and relays instructions from supervisors to Housekeeping Attendants.
- Assists in training new associates and answers questions regarding policies and procedures.
- Ensures work schedules are followed and keeps supervisors informed of work status and problem areas.
- Trains and demonstrates proper work methods and procedures for all personnel.
- Implements efficient and economical cleaning methods and ensures required materials and linen are available.
- Works alongside team members, performing the same duties at the same level.
- Maintains records of housekeeping work, including room occupancy and guest arrival/departure dates.
- Acts as a point of continuity in the absence of the immediate supervisor.
- Greets and welcomes guests, maintaining outstanding guest relations.
- Conducts daily inspections of rooms, housekeeping carts, common areas, and laundry facilities, documenting findings.
- Ensures guest privacy and security are maintained at all times.
- Manages security and inventory of storeroom items, placing orders for supplies, amenities, and equipment as needed.
- Issues supplies, linen, and amenities to Housekeeping Attendants and performs monthly/quarterly inventories.
- Handles guest and staff suggestions/complaints, resolving issues diplomatically or escalating as needed.
- Performs a full range of housekeeping duties, including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, and trash removal.
- Uses hand and powered cleaning equipment.
- May set up, maintain, and clean the complimentary self-service breakfast bar, including food handling and certification as required.
- Applies knowledge of blood-borne pathogens and safety measures for contaminated linens and personal care items.
- Follows all NEXCOM Hospitality Group (NHG) protocols during daily service activity.
- Performs and inspects laundry operations at the facility.
- May be required to travel to other lodging facilities using a valid state driver’s license.
- May maintain operations during inclement weather or emergencies in the absence of a supervisor.
- May be required to obtain NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months of employment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Six months of housekeeping experience preferred.
- Leadership and/or training experience preferred.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- May require food handling certification and NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months.
