About the role
A Higher Call Nursing Center is seeking a Housekeeper/Laundry Aide to join their team in Quapaw, OK. Responsibilities
- Clean resident rooms and other interior and exterior facility areas under the supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor.
- Assist in maintaining a positive physical and psychosocial environment for the residents.
- Follow a regular schedule of all daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, and annual cleaning requirements.
- Clean rooms, offices, and common areas; polish and straighten items; confirm residents’ rooms are safe, comfortable, and maintained in an attractive manner and residents’ personal items are safeguarded.
- Clean up spills, soiled areas, and other conditions as observed or directed.
- Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.
- Dispose of refuse daily in accordance with facility established sanitation procedures.
- Maintain a cleaning cart fully equipped with needed supplies.
- Assist with transferring resident and belongings, (bed, furniture, etc.) from one room to another.
- Extensively clean the resident’s room upon discharge or death of a resident.
- Report any damage of walls, floors, furniture, equipment etc. to supervisor.
- Pick up cleaning supplies for next day's work at the end of the shift.
- Follow cleaning schedules as outlined in Housekeeping Policies and Procedures.
- Maintain work area free of hazardous conditions, i.e., spills, excessive supplies, equipment, etc.
- Follow all proper biohazard procedures in the clean-up and removal of such wastes.
- Maintain work and storage areas in a clean, neat, sanitary and safe condition.
- Properly clean and store all equipment and supplies.
- Attend in-service education programs in order to meet facility educational requirements.
- Be familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill & Evacuation Procedures and know how to use the information.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility records/information.
- Protect residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse.
- Protect the personal property of the residents of the facility.
- Others as directed by the supervisor or administrator.
Laundry Duties
- Provide laundry delivery services for the facility and residents under the supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor.
- Follow a regular schedule of all daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal, and annual laundry requirements.
- Follow an uninterrupted work schedule when Supervisor is not available.
- Mark any unmarked clothing with appropriate resident name before washing or mixing with other soiled clothing.
- Wash personal clothing of residents who request this service.
- Handle linen services for other facility departments as required.
- Coordinate daily laundry services with nursing services when performing routine laundry assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.
- Assure that an adequate supply of laundry/linen supplies is maintained in laundry/linen closets to meet the daily needs of the residents.
- Keep accurate records of linen inventory.
- Pick up soiled clothing from dirty linen room and bath areas as outlined in Laundry policies and procedures.
- Operate washers, dryers, and other laundry equipment.
- Fold, stack, hang, and deliver laundry and linen.
- Assist in maintaining the Laundry Department in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner at all times.
- Attend in-service education programs in order to meet facility educational requirements.

Qualifications
- Willingness to perform a variety of simple repetitive tasks, many of which will involve unpleasant conditions.
- Practical knowledge of day-to-day cleaning and laundry care in a nursing facility.
- Organized and detailed in work performance.
- Good communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience.
- Genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursing facility.
- Comply with the Residents' Rights and Facility Policies and Procedures.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
- Sitting: 0-2 hours per 8 hour work shift. Alternates frequently to walking.
- Walking: 3-4 hours per 8 hour work shift. Alternates frequently to standing and occasionally to sitting.
- Standing: 4-5 hours per 8 hour work shift. Alternatives frequently to walking and occasionally to sitting.
