About the Role
Provide a clean, sanitary, infection-free, and attractive facility to create a pleasant and welcoming environment for residents, families, and all who enter Maple View.
Responsibilities
- Wear appropriate clothing as described in the dress code policy (scrubs, clean uniform, closed-toed shoes with socks, name badge).
- Demonstrate knowledge of infection control practices by compliance with established policies and procedures:
- Wash hands appropriately between residents, services, and cares.
- Use universal precautions, including personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow facility policy for cleaning up blood and body fluids using the spill kit when indicated.
- Properly dispose of waste products each shift and prior to shift end.

- Maintain loyalty to management, residents, and employees.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and work well with co-workers and other department personnel.

Working Conditions
- Work throughout resident areas.
- Sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during working hours.
- Subject to frequent interruptions and interactions with residents, personnel, visitors, and government agencies.
- May be exposed to hostile or emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
- Work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, holidays, and in other positions temporarily as necessary.
- Subject to exposure to infectious waste and diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis B (HBV), and Hepatitis C (HCV).
- Required to use gloves and/or personal protective equipment (PPE).
Requirements
- Previous housekeeping/laundry experience desired.
- Passion for working with the elderly population.
- Ability to make appropriate judgment calls during crisis situations and use critical thinking.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and employees.
- Minimum age of eighteen (18) years.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies.
- Willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
- Willingness to spend a minimum of 50% of time on the floor with residents, visitors, families, and other employees.
- Patience, tact, cheerfulness, and enthusiasm.
- Ability to manage difficult resident behaviors through critical thinking and observing body language.
Schedule
Limited part-time position. Hours are 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM every other weekend and holidays.
