Housekeeper Position Summary
The Housekeeper helps create a joyful and vibrant community by maintaining a beautiful environment, keeping the community tidy, clean, sanitary, and pleasing to the senses.
Essential Job Functions
- Supports dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents.
- Performs the day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
- Maintains high standards of cleanliness.
- Ensures assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner.
- Fulfills established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.
- Fulfills established Infection Control practices when performing housekeeping procedures.
- Operates and maintains all housekeeping/laundry equipment (e.g., commercial washer/dryer, buffing machines, etc.)
- Works safely and recognizes potentially dangerous situations.
- Attends and participates in required meetings and trainings.
- Stays current on system assigned tasks and duties.
- Performs other tasks/duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications & Skills
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Passes a criminal background and fingerprint check.
- Has compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and other employees.
- Maintains a clean, neat, comfortable, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Maintains compliance with all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
- Ability to work independently (with minimal supervision).
- Maintains a current food handler’s card.
Physical Demands
- Regularly sits and talks or hears.
- Frequently uses hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally stands and walks.
- Constantly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds; lifting 25-40 pounds constantly.
- Reaches below shoulder height frequently.
- Kneels; stoops and squats are required occasionally.
- Stand for six out of eight hours.
