About the role
This is a full-time role split between our facility and our sister facility next door. It has an assistant director. It is a salaried role up to $27 an hour with weekly pay.
Responsibilities
- Meet the laundry and housekeeping needs of the facility.
- Manage the department within labor and supply budget guidelines.
- Ensure the completion of the laundry process and the delivery of adequate levels of linen in a timely manner.
- Assure that all laundry machinery, equipment are in a safe and efficient working condition.
- Maintains chemicals under safe conditions at all times.
- Remove torn, worn, soiled linen or clothing from inventory.
- Mend and iron as necessary.
- Ensure residents’ rooms are neat, clean and free from odor.
- Wet mop floors daily.
- Buff floors as requested.
- Shampoo and extract carpets as per schedule.
- Attend to spills immediately.
- Empty trash liners and clean containers.
- Clean bed and rails with disinfectant.
- Clean all countertops, windowsills, overbed and bedside tables and furniture.
- Strip, seal and refinish floors as per schedule.
- Clean windows and mirrors.
Requirements
- Must possess as a minimum a high school diploma.
- A minimum of one (1) year experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Training in the operation of laundry equipment, practices, and procedures is preferred.
- Must be knowledgeable in building cleaning and floor maintenance techniques.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
- Oversees the quality and workmanship of all cleaning personnel and outside contractors.
- Must be knowledgeable of housekeeping and laundry practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines governing housekeeping functions in the long-term care facility.
- Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.
- Must have the ability to plan, organize develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the department.
- Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., the appearance of the housekeeping areas, and must perform regular inspections of resident rooms/units for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
- Completes necessary schedules, worksheets, logs and records of work performers and planners.
- Serves on-call for emergencies and off-duty hours.
- Supervises department personnel including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, orientating, and evaluating.
