Location
This role is located at the Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel, the largest smoke-free, non-gaming hotel in Las Vegas. The 548-room property offers modern design, sophisticated guest rooms, social venues, and the signature restaurant ENVY Steakhouse. The hotel provides complimentary amenities including fitness classes, craft beer, and in-room welcome gifts.
Overview
Responsible for guest room assignments and all housekeeping processes, including collecting, dispatching, and tracking guest, Guest Room Attendant (GRA), and supervisor requests. Ensures job responsibilities are performed satisfactorily according to department standards while adhering to company and safety policies. Focuses on fostering teamwork and delivering excellent guest service by anticipating guest needs.
Responsibilities
- Print the Housekeeping report, VIP report, and check for room discrepancies to correct in the system.
- Assign rooms to Guest Room Attendants according to the staffing guide, ensuring room credits meet established criteria.
- Mark all room/guest-specific requests on the assignment sheet (e.g., feather-free, late check-out, VIP, time of service).
- Record assigned lunchtimes and make copies of GRA assignment sheets for filing and supervisor distribution.
- Answer housekeeping office phones, log all messages, and dispatch calls cordially (e.g., Lost and Found, Refuse Service, Do Not Disturb, over rooms, Work Orders).
- Record and log all facilities/maintenance work orders in Guestware and place purchase orders for supplies as needed.
- Assign, replace, remove, or change rooms to ensure GRAs complete their credits and all rooms are covered.
- Review occupancy forecasts to adjust schedules for appropriate coverage the next day.
- Maintain order and cleanliness of the office area.
- Inspect Room Attendants’ work performance daily to ensure standards and productivity levels are met.
- In the absence of the Housekeeping Manager or Assistant Housekeeping Manager, inspect all VIP rooms and report availability to the Front Office.
- Oversee the closing of floors at the end of the day, ensuring Room Attendants’ carts are clean and restocked.
- Ensure daily assignment records are completed, signed off, and turned into the Housekeeping Office on time.
- Maintain key control and handle Lost and Found items according to standards.
- Monitor cleanliness and orderliness of Room Attendants’ carts, linen closets, control closets, stairways, and landings.
- Oversee daily assignment of duties for Room Attendants and House Attendants.
- Carry an active pager/radio to maintain contact with the Front Office and/or Engineering throughout the shift.
- Report progress on out-of-order rooms to the Guest Services Manager.
- Initiate and follow through on work orders for repairs and maintenance until completion.
- Assist with training Housekeeping staff and ensure completion of biannual cleaning projects.
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in a related field helpful.
- Two to three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
- Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.
- Requires bending, reaching, and prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
- Requires eye/hand coordination and basic math skills.
- Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
- Ability to comply with policies, procedures, job descriptions, daily memorandums, chemical labels (MSDS), and other instructions.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals.
- Must effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
