Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of public and common areas throughout the day, including lobby, restrooms, drinking fountains, and floors
- Maintain the cleanliness of resident rooms and bathrooms
- Clean handrails to ensure they are free of debris
- Remove dust, dirt, or food from walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures, towel bars, and towel dispensers
- Empty trash cans and replace liners
- Sweep and mop floors
- Utilize proper safety measures when cleaning, including caution signage and keeping supplies/chemicals out of residents' reach
- Use supplies and equipment safely by following user manual instructions
- Maintain housekeeping carts, equipment, and storage areas in a safe, sanitary, clean, and orderly manner
- Notify the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing immediately regarding resident safety issues or concerns
- Notify the Director of Housekeeping when supplies need replenishing
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (minimum requirement)
- Experience working in a long-term care facility preferred
- Ability to read and understand procedure manuals and directions
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Excellent customer service skills and positive attitude
- Strong time-management skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Physical Demands
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Regularly required to sit, kneel, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear
- Daily use of housekeeping supplies and equipment
- Use of office-related equipment (copier, scanner, fax, telephone, calculator)
Work Environment
The work environment is usually low to moderate in smell and noise level.
