Primary Purpose Of Position
The Vessel Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of Flagship Cruises & Events vessels to ensure a safe, welcoming, and exceptional experience for guests and crew. This position performs routine cleaning and housekeeping duties in a fast-paced maritime environment while adhering to company standards for quality, safety, and customer service.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Aid with the daily operations and overall functions of the Housekeeping Department to ensure vessels are maintained in a clean, safe, and guest-ready condition.
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitization of assigned vessel areas, including passenger spaces, crew areas, and restrooms.
- Vacuum carpets and dining areas; sweep and mop hard surface floors.
- Dust and polish furniture, light fixtures, lamps, window ledges, and other surfaces using appropriate cleaning products and techniques.
- Clean and polish metal fixtures, fittings, railings, and other vessel surfaces to maintain appearance and prevent corrosion.
- Clean glass surfaces, windows, mirrors, and other reflective surfaces to ensure a streak-free finish.
- Empty trash receptacles, replace liners, and properly dispose of waste in accordance with company procedures.
- Clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms, ensuring all fixtures and supplies are maintained throughout the shift.
- Maintain housekeeping equipment, cleaning supplies, and storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
- Identify and report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or damaged equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and sanitation standards, including the proper handling and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Perform other housekeeping and operational duties as assigned to support the needs of the fleet.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Minimum one (1) year of housekeeping, janitorial, custodial, or related cleaning experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing methods, materials, and equipment preferred.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and accept direction from supervisors.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependable with a strong work ethic and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Ability to communicate professionally and work effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and guests.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and all major holidays.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
- May be required to apply for a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift/pull/push 50lbs.
- Ability to bend, rotate and reach frequently.
- Ascending/descending stairs or ladders safely.
- Must be able to maneuver through/in/around small and/or confined areas within the vessel.
- Must be able to maintain both static and dynamic standing balance to complete various duties associated with job.
