About the role
The Housekeeping Assistant Specialist I supports the Environmental Services department at Northwestern Medicine. This role is part-time, working evenings, and offers a fixed compensation rate of $21.65 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Vacuums carpeted surfaces, damp mops hard surface floors.
- Assists the supervisor in orientating new housekeeping assistants to the department.
- Performs general and heavy cleaning duties in offices, patient rooms, clean and soiled utility rooms, laboratories, public areas, and stairways.
- Cleans windows, empties ashtrays and waste baskets.
- Cleans blood and body fluids.
- Cleans, arranges furniture, and replaces supplies in patient rooms, baths, offices, waiting areas, and other public spaces.
- Cleans bathtubs, sinks, mirrors, toilets, and replaces supplies as required.
- Moves furniture as directed and assists in freight moving.
- Washes walls, blinds, lights, and similar surface areas and hangs drapes.
- Maintains and cleans equipment, returning it to its assigned location.
- Strips, refinishes, and shampoos all types of floor surfaces and coverings.
- Transports hospital property from one area to another or between buildings.
- Uses the Bed Tracking system to log into the computer at the start of the shift, move beds into categories, and log out at the end of the shift.
- Strips units upon discharge, terminally cleans patient rooms, and prepares them for admission.
- Performs in-between case cleaning in operating rooms and terminal cleaning of all ORs and LDRs after each delivery.
Qualifications
- Ability to understand oral instructions.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- One to two years of experience preferred.
