Housekeeping Assistant
Position Overview
Polaris Rehabilitation and Care Center is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and compassionate Housekeeping Assistant to join our Environmental Services team. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming environment for our residents, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices, dining areas, and common spaces according to facility schedules and infection control standards
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, polish, and disinfect assigned areas using approved cleaning products and equipment
- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners throughout the facility
- Restock housekeeping supplies, paper products, soap dispensers, and other necessary items in assigned areas
- Follow proper procedures for handling, transporting, and disposing of waste and soiled materials
- Observe and maintain infection prevention practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or unusual conditions to the appropriate supervisor
- Maintain housekeeping carts, equipment, and storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition
- Aid in cleaning resident rooms following discharge, transfer, or admissions to ensure rooms are prepared for new residents
- Provide courteous and respectful customer service while interacting with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers
- Adhere to all facility policies, safety procedures, infection control standards, and applicable state and federal regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous housekeeping, environmental services, healthcare, hospitality, or custodial experience preferred but not required
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with residents, families, and team members
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety
- Dependable work ethic with excellent time management skills
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
