About the Role

Provides a healthy environment at all times to every patient, guest, physician, and staff member at Riverview Hospital. Housekeeping and Laundry Aides maintain and improve the facility daily through consistent cleanliness, linen and supply management, customer service, friendliness, courtesy, teamwork, safety, and quality performance improvement. Flexible hours and workdays in a 24/7 environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs cleaning functions and activities of the Environmental Services and Laundry Departments, including project work to meet the mission of the department and hospital.
  • Cleans the hospital in a sanitary, productive, and attractive manner.
  • Provides linen to all departments as needed; ensures steady workflow of laundry staff and logs linen usage into the laundry program.
  • Delivers quality cleaning and positive customer service to all individuals; maintains accurate and current records to meet hospital and department goals.
  • General duties include:
    • Proper collection and disposal of general and medical waste.
    • Infection Control practices for disinfecting all surfaces.
    • Cleaning occupied/discharged patient rooms, triage rooms, surgical suites, bathrooms, isolation rooms.
    • Vacuuming and extracting carpets, cleaning elevators, walls, windows, doors, furniture, floors, and complete dusting of all surfaces.
  • Performs cleaning routes properly and updates them as needed.
  • Flexible in working various assignments to complete housekeeping activities each day for the assigned shift.
  • Trials requested products and equipment for cleaning all facility surfaces.
  • Trains staff on necessary processes as requested by EVS Leadership.
  • Removes and monitors waste streams (regular, recycle, and medical) for safe and cost-effective results.
  • Cleans and reports repair needs of existing furniture.
  • Requests or performs needed floor care projects to maintain clean and pleasant carpet and hard floor surfaces.
  • May perform multiple conference room setups and cleanup activities daily.
  • Performs duties related to outside laundry service to properly clean and maintain hospital linen.
  • Distributes clean and removes soiled linen from all areas daily.
  • Recommends linen purchasing and inventory to maintain PAR levels of linen on exchange carts.
  • Adopts and performs short- and long-term goals and objectives of the hospital and department.
  • Performs duties that improve department performance and actively promotes quality initiatives with peers and staff.
  • Reports repairs and mechanical failures; keeps cart, equipment, and closet clean and in good repair at all times.
  • Keeps the cart locked when not in use and attended at all times; returns cart and equipment to a locked EVS closet or equipment room when not in use.
  • Maintains Regulatory Agency Inspection readiness at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Some cleaning experience, residential or commercial (required).
  • Housekeeping experience in a healthcare field (preferred).

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • GED (preferred).
