Housekeeper I

Position Summary

Performs housekeeping and cleaning activities within well-established guidelines and assigned areas. Maintains all areas of the facility in a clean and orderly manner, adhering to safe work practices and state regulations. Treats all members of the Orchard Cove community with respect and care.

Position Responsibilities

• Residential Rooms: Clean member apartments according to written assignments, conduct “flipper check,” wash, dust, polish, vacuum, sweep, and sort and wash laundry. Empty and clean trash cans.
• Common Areas: Clean common areas, including the lobby and commons area, and restock supplies. Perform other housekeeping-related tasks as assigned.
• Clean assigned areas, furnishings, and fixtures according to established procedures. Observe and report maintenance issues. Stock and clean storage area for equipment and supplies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• One to two years housekeeping experience preferred
• Command of English strongly preferred
• Knowledge of infection control policies
• Knowledge of heavy equipment performance

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods of walking and/or standing
• Bending, stooping, reaching, and moving light furniture
• Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds; uses hand truck for items over 35 pounds
• Exposure to chemicals on a constant basis requiring special clothing (PPE) or safety equipment
• Over 95% of time spent in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposure to noise
• Protects from weather conditions
• Interacts with residents, family members, and other staff under all conditions and circumstances
• Exposure to medical waste and occasionally unsanitary conditions, unpleasant odors, and hazardous (concentrated) chemicals
• Ability to push/pull a housekeeping cart, mop and bucket, vacuum, use of floor equipment, climb ladder to 6/8 feet
