Housekeeper I
- Cleans and restocks all assigned areas according to departmental standards and guidelines.
- Disposes of trash, biomedical and solid waste materials to appropriate disposal areas.
- Prepares patient rooms for occupancy after patients are discharged.
- Replaces supplies as needed.
- Alerts supervisor of potential problems and safety hazards.
- If classified in a Lead Role: Assists in quality control and performance improvement activities; contributes to performance feedback, hiring decisions; ensures standards are met (quality, timeliness, customer service, etc.); evaluates and tests new procedures/processes; orients and/or trains new staff; problem solving capabilities; subject matter expert/technical leadership; workflow/distribution of work; assists in assuring compliance with all regulatory and other agency requirements, laws, and statutes pertaining to the operation of the department.
Qualifications
- Required: Six months housekeeping or maintenance experience. High school diploma or GED.
- Preferred: None specified.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrates knowledge of hospital and departmental policies, procedures and standards.
- Ability to accurately and legibly complete required work assignment forms.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete all assignments in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of safety procedures regarding disposal of biohazardous wastes and other trash according to departmental procedures.
- Knowledge of safety procedures regarding lifting and transferring equipment, supplies and furniture.
- Ability to use assigned equipment in a safe and careful manner.
