Position Summary
Assures completion of all housekeeping and laundry tasks. Assumes responsibility for the general cleanliness of the building. Monitors needed janitorial and maintenance work as requested. Reports to: Executive Director/Designee.
Position Responsibilities
- Adheres to and conveys the philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for Residents.
- Monitors inventory of chemicals, supplies, and equipment needed for laundry and housekeeping tasks.
- Communicate chemical, supply, and equipment needs to the Executive Director/Designee.
- Maintains required records; uses Maintenance Request Log appropriately.
- Familiarizes self with cleaning schedules of Residents' apartments and common areas to ensure completion of housekeeping tasks.
- Performs housekeeping, janitorial tasks, and minor repairs as assigned.
- Assures that other janitorial and repair requests are properly logged and monitors their completion.
- Provides laundry services as needed and/or directed.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control procedures.
- Observes problems, concerns, and issues observed with Resident units, the community, and the grounds and communicates them appropriately.
- Observe changes in Resident status, needs, or preferences and communicate them appropriately.
- Observe other problems and communicate them appropriately.
- Observe all work, safety, and administrative rules.
- Adheres to all established policies and procedures.
- Records Resident information as required.
- Avoids loss, breakage, and waste of supplies and equipment.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security, work safety, and other emergencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Employment Requirements

- Ability/willingness to perform all position responsibilities adequately.
- Keeps all information confidential.
- Maintains acceptable attendance record/follows work schedule.
- Organizes and utilizes time appropriately to accomplish assigned tasks and requires minimal supervision.
- Is willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and/or overtime.
- Displays cleanliness, good grooming, and personal appearance and follows dress requirements consistently.
- Displays mature behavior and attitude in speech and action.
- Displays ability/willingness to learn new skills and to teach others.
- Interacts in a professional manner with Residents, the public, and co-workers.
- Works cooperatively with management.
- Displays willingness to assist co-workers when the situation requires.
- Ability to do occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), 30 lbs. regularly.
- Adequate and clear English speaking and writing ability; able to communicate effectively.
- Ability to spend long periods on feet and to ambulate quickly.
- It is free of non-treated communicable diseases.
- CPR/First Aid Certified.
- Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations.
- Ability/willingness to follow all policies and procedures.
- It is neat, accurate, dependable, and keeps work/space clean.
- Ability/willingness to work longer than eight (8) hour shifts, to work holidays or overtime, and to work a seven (7) day schedule.
Training and Experience
- Working knowledge of equipment, supplies, and chemicals used for housekeeping and laundry tasks in public-use buildings.
- Experience in working in a licensed care setting is preferred.
- CPR/First Aid Certified.
Education
- Twelve (12) plus years of education preferred.
- Attendance at in-service training.
- Maintain CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Meet in-service training hours required for job classification and position.
