Responsibilities
- Clean hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, common rooms (party room, children’s play room, fitness center), and other work areas to meet health standards.
- Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and/or draperies using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers.
- Empty wastebaskets, ashtrays, and transport trash and waste to disposal areas.
- Carry toilet items and cleaning supplies using wheeled carts.
- Sweep, scrub, wax, and/or polish floors using brooms, mops, and/or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
- Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
- Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
- Remove debris from driveways, garages, and swimming pool areas.
- Wash windows, walls, ceilings, doors, and woodwork; wax and polish as necessary.
- Report maintenance issues (e.g., burned-out lights, leaks, broken equipment) to the Building Maintenance Department.
- Disinfect equipment and supplies using germicides or steam-operated sterilizers.
- Dust window blinds.
- Observe all state, federal, and company safety standards to maintain a safe work environment.
- Report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors.
- Prepare rooms for meetings and arrange decorations and furniture for social or business functions.
- Properly utilize new equipment and follow safety procedures.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.
- Report any problems to the supervisor, including those not listed in the responsibilities.
Work Environment
The housekeeper performs their work in a residential environment, primarily cleaning common and waiting areas. The role requires working with chemical cleaning solutions and exposure to outdoor climate and weather conditions.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, and climb stairs or ladders.
- Ability to crawl in small and tight spaces, stoop, and/or kneel.
- Ability to lift, move, and/or carry up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to push cleaning equipment up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to handle, finger, grasp, and feel objects and equipment.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.
Schedule
Non-exempt (hourly) position with a schedule determined by each property/location to suit business needs. The schedule may change to accommodate the property’s requirements.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience in managing and supervising a housekeeping department.
- Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products and their proper use.
- Ability to use standard cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaner, floor polisher, cleaning cart).
- Ability to react and address emergency situations promptly.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
