About the role
Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the campus and ensuring that visitors, residents, families, and staff have a positive impression. Additional duties include cleaning of common areas, project cleaning, seasonal cleaning duties, and weekly cleaning and laundry in resident’s rooms.
Responsibilities
- Provide consistent and quality work to the residents and staff.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and cleaning cart.
- Follow job routines and instructions according to the assigned housekeeping schedule.
- Assure resident apartment and laundry are clean and sanitized as scheduled.
- Maintain inventory for daily needs and notify supervisor of supply issues.
- Assist in keeping all common areas neat, clean, and safe.
- Follow the daily schedule to ensure all tasks are accomplished in a timely manner.
- Cleaning duties include, but are not limited to:
- Vacuuming hallways, elevators, and furniture.
- Washing inside glass doors and windows.
- Sweeping and/or mopping floors.
- Cleaning and stocking supplies in restrooms.
- Dusting.
- Rubbish/trash removal.
- Washing/polishing woodwork and baseboards.
- Seasonal duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of housekeeping/cleaning experience.
- Able to make responsible choices and decisions, and act in the resident’s best interest.
- Ability to motivate oneself and work independently.
- Ability to be flexible and work with other staff and residents.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals.
- Good work ethic.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Able to read, write, spell, do basic math, speak, and understand English.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to frequently perform tasks such as, but not limited to:
- Bend and squat to the floor to pick up debris, trash containers, and to use cleaning tools and products.
- See objects within 35 feet to monitor work areas (e.g., determine areas in need of cleaning).
- Interpret colors to read warnings, labels, wires, etc.
Must be able to continuously perform tasks such as, but not limited to:
- Move, push, pull, and/or lift objects weighing 10 to 25 pounds.
- Use hands and arms for simple grasping, pushing, and pulling to sweep, mop, and use containers of cleaning solution/chemicals.
- Perform tasks requiring actions of muscles or groups of muscles to walk, stoop, bend, lift, and carry objects.
- Walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Speak clearly and make self understood in face-to-face interactions.
- See objects closely to read directions, instructions, chemical warnings, etc.
- Hear normal sounds and voices with some background noise to receive verbal instructions, answer telephones, and communicate with others.
Environment
Works indoors in a climate-controlled environment the majority of the time.
Schedule
This is a part-time position, Monday through Friday, 20 hours per week. Hours vary.
