Housekeeper

About the role

Clean and service an assigned portion of the facility including furniture, floors, and equipment. Maintain the assigned area to ensure it is clean, sanitary, safe, orderly, and attractive at all times.

Responsibilities

• Follow daily work routine and clean assigned areas.
• Ensure all housekeeping carts and equipment remain in proper repair and stock carts with required cleaning agents and supplies.
• Gather and dispose of trash, ensuring plastic liners are in containers at all times.
• Vacuum, dust/wet mop, and sanitize floors daily.
• Empty trash bins and maintain cleanliness around dumpsters.
• Clean walls, ceilings, windows, stairwells, hallways, metal fixtures, light fixtures, tops of windows, doorframes, and other high places using a step ladder if necessary.
• Clean and polish bathroom sinks, tubs, mirrors, toilets, walls, and floors.
• Restock paper, plastic, and soap supplies as needed.
• Hang draperies, privacy curtains, etc. as necessary.
• Keep utility rooms and housekeeping closets orderly and sanitized.
• Follow established sanitation and safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous institutional housekeeping experience preferred.
• Prior experience working in a long-term care facility is a plus.

Skills

• Able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.

Physical Requirements

• Able to perform physical activities requiring considerable use of arms, legs, and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
• Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling, with or without mechanical aids.
• Ability to distinguish smells and temperatures.
• Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards.
• Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols.
