This is a temporary position with an anticipated duration of approximately one month, with potential for additional work the following construction season depending on project needs.
About the role
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment in a remote construction camp and offices, ensuring high standards of hygiene and comfort for all occupants and staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting in all common areas.
- Clean and sanitize private quarters and ensure they have necessary supplies.
- Maintain cleaning in camp and office areas.
- Handle trash and recycling removal, ensuring proper disposal and management.
- Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to the Supervisor.
- Monitor and manage inventory of cleaning supplies and personal hygiene products.
- Order and restock supplies as needed, coordinating with the Supervisor to ensure availability.
- Follow established health and safety procedures, including the proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Keep accurate records of cleaning schedules and supply usage.
- Provide excellent service and respond to specific requests or concerns from camp residents or office personnel professionally and promptly.
- Clean bathrooms daily by wiping down and scrubbing toilets, sinks, and mirrors.
- Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas.
- Remove stains from rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be able to work with industrial cleaning chemicals.
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Effective planning and organization of duties, with strong time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented to ensure work is done efficiently and accurately.
- Professional and effective communication with employees, business partners, and clients via written and verbal methods.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule in remote Alaska locations.
- Previous experience in housekeeping or janitorial services, preferably in a remote or construction camp setting, is desirable.
- Ability to pass a drug and background screening.
