Housekeeper

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize patient rooms, common areas, restrooms, and staff offices.
• Perform deep cleaning in high-touch areas, such as doorknobs, light switches, and handrails.
• Regularly wash windows, floors, and surfaces to ensure the facility is free of dirt, dust, and bacteria.
• Change bed linens and towels as needed, ensuring patient rooms are always tidy and prepared.
• Collect, sort, and wash linens, bedding, towels, and patient clothing.
• Ensure all laundry is washed, dried, and folded in a timely manner.
• Properly dispose of medical waste and other waste in accordance with facility protocols.
• Ensure that trash bins are emptied regularly, and that waste is appropriately sorted.
• Ensure that all cleaning equipment and chemicals are safely stored and properly used.
• Report any safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or areas requiring maintenance to supervisors.
• Affirm proper adherence to infection control guidelines.
• Interact with patients and staff in a friendly and respectful manner, fostering a positive and comfortable environment for healing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred, especially in healthcare or psychiatric settings.
• Full range of physical capabilities required, including the ability to handle and lift patients, demonstrate manual and finger dexterity, and maintain good eye-hand coordination.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally lift and carry items up to 40 lbs.
• Corrected vision and hearing within the normal range required.
