About the role

The Housekeeping Aide provides quality housekeeping services, ensuring a clean, orderly, and safe environment for all facility residents and staff. Following job routines or department instructions, the Housekeeping Aide cleans assigned areas—including resident rooms and bathrooms—on a scheduled basis to meet high standards of cleanliness, infection control, safety, and hazardous communication. The role involves planning efficient use of time, cooperating with staff, and performing duties with minimal disruption to residents and staff. The Housekeeping Aide also maintains a clean work area, assists in stocking adequate supplies, and supports department operations.

Responsibilities

• Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, and other assigned areas on a scheduled basis.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, infection control, safety, and hazardous communication.
• Plan and manage time efficiently to minimize disruption to residents and staff.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and department.
• Assist in maintaining adequate housekeeping supplies.
• Lift and move furniture and heavy items weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Visually assess facility conditions, distinguish smells/temperatures, and respond to pages.

Requirements

• Ability to read labels and follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and take appropriate action.
• Ability to visually assess all aspects of the facility.
• Ability to distinguish smells and temperatures and to hear and respond to pages.
• Physical ability to walk, reach, bend, lift, grasp, pull, stretch, stoop, and demonstrate fine hand coordination.
• Ability to lift and move furniture and heavy items weighing approximately 40 pounds.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
