Housekeeper and Companion Caregiver

Pay Rate: $16-$20/hour with differential pay for nights and weekends. Weekly pay and a $400 sign-on bonus available for qualifying candidates.

About the Role

Being a Housekeeper and Companion Caregiver at Visiting Angels Springfield is a rewarding job that allows you to give back to your community and broaden your skills. The Springfield Office Team provides caregivers for the Central Illinois area, including Sangamon County, Menard County, Morgan County, Logan County, and many others.

Visiting Angels supports seniors with daily living responsibilities such as light housekeeping tasks, meal preparation, one-on-one mobility assistance, and providing transportation. This role offers opportunities for personal growth, including advanced training in areas like Dementia Care or Alzheimer’s Care.

Visiting Angels received the 2016-2017 Caregiver Choice Awards, voted by caregiver companions, home health aides, and nursing aides as a top place to work.

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks, etc.)
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene
• Help clients with routine exercises
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients (when they are able)
• Do the client’s shopping or accompany them when they shop
• Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can’t complete on their own
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion
• Report any unusual incidents
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Requirements

• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
