Housekeeper and Companion Caregiver

About the role

Visiting Angels of Lawton is hiring a Housekeeper and Companion Caregiver for clients throughout the local area including Lawton, Duncan, Altus, Chickasha, and surrounding communities. This role involves helping elderly and home-care clients stay at home or recover at home with dignity.

Responsibilities

• Helping clients handle personal care and hygiene
• Managing light housekeeping
• Encouraging clients to meet their exercise and fitness goals
• Prompting clients to take their prescription medications at the right times
• Helping clients with shopping and putting away groceries (or shopping for them)
• Planning and preparing meals in collaboration with clients (based on client ability)
• Assisting clients with mobility and ambulation – including getting around the house, visiting the doctor, and taking walks
• Acting quickly in the case of medical emergencies
• Reporting any health changes or unusual circumstances adequately

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Excellent time-management skills
• Reliable transportation to client visits
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
• Training/knowledge in First Aid and emergency response
• A heart for vulnerable people seeking meaningful companionship
• Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards
