Housekeeper and Companion Caregiver

About the role

Visiting Angels of Abilene is hiring a Housekeeper and Companion Caregiver to support senior adults in the Big Country area, including locations like Albany, Breckenridge, Stamford, and Throckmorton. This role involves assisting clients with personal care, household tasks, and companionship to help them maintain dignity while living or recovering at home.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene
• Manage light housekeeping duties
• Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals
• Prompt clients to take prescription medications on schedule
• Assist with shopping, grocery handling, and meal planning/preparation based on client ability
• Support mobility and ambulation, including doctor visits and walks
• Respond quickly to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Excellent time-management skills
• Reliable transportation to client visits
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
• Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response
• Compassion for vulnerable individuals and a desire to provide meaningful companionship
• Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards
