Housekeeper (2nd Shift)

About the role

Unit: Student Affairs (Vice Provost) MBU Department: Student Commons. Our mission is to cultivate a vibrant campus community by providing dynamic spaces, experiences, opportunities, and essential resources that enable students to connect, engage, and thrive socially, academically, and personally.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular shift cleaning and special projects as assigned as part of the University Student Commons housekeeping staff.
• Maintain the University Student Commons and surrounding outside areas in clean condition per USC Housekeeping Performance Standards and highest industry standards.
• Clean up to 28,000‑35,000 square feet of cleanable space per eight‑hour workday.
• Work schedule: 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m. during the school year; 12:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m. during school breaks; 40 hours per week; rotating weekend work required.
• Perform snow and ice removal, clean up after water or fire damage, and provide special event support.
• Represent the department to the University community and visitors.

Qualifications

• Minimum: Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population; significant housekeeping experience; knowledge of standard housekeeping procedures and equipment; ability to work independently and within a team; ability to read, hear, and follow directions and complete reports; ability to lift and carry at least 75 lb routinely; ability to kneel, stoop, bend, climb, and walk for extended periods; professional conduct, awareness of departmental and university policies; flexibility for emergency situations; completion of building‑cleaning training program; basic English proficiency to read labels and policies; ability to communicate custodial/maintenance issues to supervisor or Work Management Center.
• Preferred: High school diploma or equivalency; one year of custodial work experience.
