About the Role
The Housekeeping Assistant performs scheduled housekeeping tasks as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor. This includes mopping, sweeping, dusting, washing windows, shampooing and vacuuming carpets, arranging furniture, and generally cleaning furniture, equipment, fixtures, and hardware.
Responsibilities
- Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas daily in accordance with facility protocols.
- Uses proper chemicals in correct portions; may dust mop, wet mop, or spot-mop floors.
- Empties trash containers, replaces liners, and disposes of trash in proper receptacles.
- Vacuums carpets as directed by the Supervisor.
- Washes and dries windows using proper chemicals and equipment.
- Reports repair needs to the Supervisor or maintenance department.
- Requests needed supplies and equipment from the Supervisor.
- Identifies and corrects safety hazards; abides by safety rules.
- Reviews Cantex Continuing Care Network Policy and Procedures for Abuse Prevention and enforces it.
- Attends weekly in-services, understands, and complies with Patient Care Management Systems.
- Ensures patient/resident safety.
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience in institutional housekeeping or maintenance is helpful.
- Experience using floor-care equipment is helpful.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
